Elsewhere Coffee Roasters - Rwanda
Elsewhere are the eye-catching coffee roasters based in London
They began their coffee journey as the in-house roastery for Social Espresso, an events company that delivers high-end coffee to conferences and exhibitions across Europe.
After proving popular they decided to dive into the retail coffee scene and make the coffee available to everyone.
They are based in Deptford, London and supply coffee shops, restaurants and offices all over the UK.
Their unique branding is a symbol of the feeling you get when drinking coffee. A leap into the world of speciality coffee or an escape into another world whilst you sip some of their incredible coffee.
The coffee that these guys roast is top draw. They focus on offering a few single origin coffees that are all perfectly executed and always coffees that are in season.
Elsewhere coffee are also aware of their environmental responsibility as a coffee roaster.
Their packaging is 100% recyclable (something that isn’t as common as you would think in coffee) and they have built relationships directly with the coffee farmers and importers to make sure they get fair value for their fabulous coffee.

The Origin
The Sorbetto coffee from Elsewhere coffee roasters originates from Rwanda.
Known as the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda has the perfect environment to grow speciality Arabica coffee.
Since the genocide of the 90’s, coffee has played a huge role in getting the country back to where it once was.
The introduction of washing stations and the education of younger generations about growing high quality coffee has been a symbol of positivity in Rwanda.
Rwanda has a slightly different flavour profile to that of an Ethiopian or Kenyan. What it lacks in bright citrus notes it makes up for in deeper, more concentrated fruit flavours.
Often reminiscent of stewed apples it can have a syrupy more heavy mouthfeel. Rwandan coffee is also highly diverse in flavour, it also produces a small amount of speciality Robusta coffee.

The Origin
The Sidamo coffee from Elsewhere coffee roasters originates from the Aletawondo region of Sidama, Ethiopia.
Sourced from a farm and washing station which empowers women working in coffee within Aletawondon.
The Bulessa Washing Station aids the local community by providing educational and agricultural workshops for women and children as well as helping smallholders and their families access healthcare, education and agricultural support.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, or at least the country that first consumed it. It is a country so synonymous with coffee that the word coffee originated from Kaffa, a region in the south west of the country.
Coffee is deeply entwined into their culture with over 12 million people working in or around coffee.
Some of the best coffees in the world have been grown in this country, the various heirloom varieties that are only found in Ethiopia make each coffee even more special and unique.
A typical Ethiopian coffee isn’t typical at all, taste profiles can be wildly diverse. From a zesty citrus fruit to a bright floral aftertaste to a fruit-forward watermelon.
Some of my favourite ever coffees have been Ethiopian. Their washed coffee’s boast layers of complex notes while their naturals are juicy and outlandish. A true coffee lover's coffee.
