✅ Compact Grinder
✅ Quiet Grinding
✅ Great Value
I absolutely love my Wilfa Svart coffee grinder.
I’ve been using this particular model for a few years now. I make a beeline for it first thing in the morning (especially the early ones) when I need my caffeine fix.
Although I have tried and tested many burr coffee grinders over recent years and now own numerous grinders, I’m still all about the Wilfa Svart Aroma.
Wilfa as a brand are also really great - I actually burnt out the grinder one particular morning (when I was probably over using it and grinding coffee into bags) and Wilfa replace the unit - Legends.
My Opinion
So, just make this clear the Wilfa Svart isn’t for everyone. If you are grinding coffee for anything finer than Moka Pot, so that’s espresso, turkish or any other brew method that requires a fine ground the Wilfa Svart Aroma just doesn’t grind the coffee to that level. Checkout our Espresso Grinder Reviews for some inspo.
If you’re grinding for anything else then the Wilfa Svart is a great choice, I feel that it really stikes a balance between quality build, quality grind, capacity, speed and value.
The hopper is large enough for domestic use and personally I weigh the coffee before grinding each time so I don’t store any in the hopper.
The container that the grounds are collected in is really functional and is designed for you to easily pour the coffee into your brew method although it can take some getting used to and may initially lead to coffee grounds all over the countertop.
It’s not the quickest nor the quietest grinder, however it still is quicker and quieter than most. So if you’re up first thing you won’t necessarily wake everyone up.
The consistency of the grind is fantastic for the pric you pay. Certainly for most brew methods and the grind can be easily adjusted rotating the hopper.

Wilfa are one of the leading suppliers of speciality coffee appliances.
The Wilfa Svart grind is your go-to home coffee grinder if you brew your coffee in pretty much any way other than espresso or stovetop.
Design
It was designed in Norway with the idea to market this grinder to the filter methods crowd. Because the burrs don’t have to operate at such a fine grind It comes in at an upper entry-level price point but creates a super consistent grind at the medium and coarse grind sizes.
The grinder is designed with style and the user in mind, simply rotate the bean hopper to adjust the grind and press go. The grounds collect in the container at the bottom which can become a little messy as coffee sometimes sticks to the top of the lid, however, a few taps on the side of the container before opening usually solves this.
The slick design that fits easily onto your kitchen work surface combined with a pretty low RPM makes the Wilfa grinder discreet and quiet.
Grind Size
A great buy if you’re into any brew methods that require a grind level from Aeropress - cafetiere.
