 Coffee Beans

At Batch Coffee Club, we’re all about coffee beans. Although our bags may be deceivingly similar what’s inside is far from it. We find 2 new coffees every 2 weeks to showcase in our coffee boxes. That means you could be trying 52 new coffees per year. All of the coffee beans are independently roasted, way above fair trade and some of the best in the UK

What makes coffee beans speciality?

Speciality coffee beans are high-quality Arabica beans grown at specific altitudes within 20 degrees of the equator.

They're carefully sourced, usually through direct trade relationships with farmers, and roasted to highlight their unique characteristics rather than over-roasted.

Where are the best coffee beans grown?

The world's finest coffee primarily originates from regions within 20 degrees of the equator at high altitudes. Africa, particularly Ethiopia (coffee's birthplace), Kenya, and Rwanda, produces beans known for their complex, often floral and fruity profiles.

South American countries like Colombia and Brazil combine quality with quantity, offering beans with balanced flavours and consistent characteristics.

Central American nations such as Panama and Costa Rica are renowned for producing world-class beans, particularly from high-altitude farms. Asian regions, including Indonesia and India, contribute unique flavour profiles shaped by their distinct climates and processing methods.

Why choose independent roasters over supermarkets?

Independent roasters prioritise quality and freshness over mass production. They source proper beans through direct relationships with farmers, ensuring fair pay and sustainable practices. These roasters carefully develop their roasts to highlight each bean's character, unlike supermarket brands that tend to over-roast for consistency across large batches.

Local roasters provide transparency about origin, roast dates, and processing methods, helping you make informed choices. The higher price reflects not just better beans, but supports ethical sourcing and proper farming practices.

When is the best time to consume coffee beans after roasting?

The optimal window is 7-25 days post-roast. While "fresh roasted" might sound appealing, coffee needs rest time after roasting to develop its full flavor profile.
