Full Spectrum Coffee: A Different Kind of Roastery
At the heart of Shropshire's emerging speciality coffee scene sits Full Spectrum Coffee, a small-batch roastery with a refreshingly different approach. Founded by Tom who is on the autism spectrum and a massive coffee enthusiast, Full Spectrum represents a quiet revolution in how coffee spaces can operate.
Tom's journey into the world of coffee began during his university years in Leeds, where he found himself embraced by a vibrant and inclusive café culture. Particularly formative were his experiences at Stage Espresso and Brew Bar, where proprietors Matt and Martyn fostered an environment that celebrated Tom's enthusiasm and accepted him exactly as he was.
Upon relocating to Shropshire after graduation, Tom quickly discovered that such welcoming spaces weren't universal. With firsthand experience of how challenging the coffee industry can be for neurodivergent individuals—the constant socialising, fast-paced environments, and overwhelming sensory experiences—Tom identified a gap that needed filling.
Full Spectrum Coffee was born from this realisation: a roastery designed to be a haven where anyone, regardless of neurological differences, could explore their passion for exceptional coffee.
The Origin
The Suke Shakisso coffee from Full Spectrum Coffee Roasters originates from the Guji Zone region of Ethiopia.
Grown in the volcanic Guji region of Ethiopia, these coffees benefit from high altitudes, nutrient rich soil and a slow maturation, giving them a characteristic depth and brightness.
Natural forest shade and litterfall fertilisation further contributes to the sustainability and quality of these coffees
A classic Ethiopian, this Guji has some pretty hefty fruit notes and a bright acidity.
But the big red berry notes give way to a gorgeous custardy body with a chocolatey finish, something that, when paired with milk as espresso, is uncanilly like a good trifle.
The perfect coffee to offer your nan after a sunday roast!
