Freda Coffee Roasters Decaf

Freda is a small batch specialty coffee roaster based in Worthing, West Sussex, founded in 2025

About Freda Coffee Roasters Decaf

The roastery focuses exclusively on single origin coffees, sourcing smaller seasonal lots rather than offering year round blends, so every coffee arrives at its freshest and most expressive. The roasting philosophy is built around balance and clarity. Rather than imposing heavy roast character, Freda aims to highlight the work already done by the producer, letting sweetness, structure and clean acidity speak for themselves. Think crisp, elegant cups with a tea like clarity that works beautifully whether you are brewing espresso or filter. Coffees are sourced through trusted UK importers including Falcon Specialty in Lewes, with a focus on traceability and transparency throughout. Guatemala, Brazil, Peru and Kenya feature regularly throughout the year.

Coffee Origin

The Decaf Coffee from Freda coffee roasters originates from the Antioquia region of Colombia.

Freda’s decaf comes from Jardín, one of Colombia’s most distinctive coffee growing regions, tucked into the southwestern corner of Antioquia high in the Western Andes. At elevations between 1,700 and 2,100 metres, slow cherry maturation builds layered sweetness and a refined, elegant acidity that sets Jardín coffees apart. Rich volcanic soils, even rainfall and a patchwork of shifting microclimates across steep terrain create ideal conditions for expressive, characterful lots. Production here is rooted in small family farms, where generations of knowledge shape consistent, responsible growing practices. Since 2022, importer Helvetia has operated a direct purchase point in the region, cutting out intermediaries and building long term relationships with producers based on transparency and shared growth.

The coffee is decaffeinated at Descafecol using the Sugar Cane process, a gentle method that preserves sweetness, balance and flavour character while removing the caffeine. Each batch is processed independently to maintain full traceability. The result is a clean, smooth and genuinely enjoyable decaf that works beautifully across espresso, cafetière and filter brewing.
