Coffee Origin
The Paradise Mountain coffee from Small Batch Coffee Roasters originates from the Simbu and Eastern Highlands provinces of Papua New Guinea.
Paradise Mountain brings together lots from two highland provinces, grown by smallholder farmers at 1,600 to 1,850 metres above sea level. The Simbu coffee comes from limestone country, while the Eastern Highlands lots grow in rich volcanic soil, tended using techniques passed down through generations.
Only the ripest cherries are picked and taken to mills in Goroka, where the coffee is fully washed, then screened and sorted to grade. The green beans are stored up in the highlands, where lower humidity keeps them in good condition, before travelling around 200 miles to the port of Lae for export.
