There are now so many to choose from and they can get quite pricey – especially if you’re new to coffee and you’re now thinking of dropping a decent amount of money on a machine.
There’s a balance too: do you buy a cheap coffee machine and save yourself a bit of cash but risk it breaking down in 6 months (water and electric are typically arch enemies) or do you just close your eyes and press pay on an coffee machine that is way out of your budget.
Well there is another option – I’ve been testing and reviewing coffee machines for the last few years and I’ve been working on them for over a decade.
The tables have turned for me in that brands are now trying to give me coffee machines rather than me looking to buy one.

I have been testing coffee machines for a few years now, whether I have purchased the machine myself or the coffee brand have sent me a coffee machine to test out all of the words and options are my own. All of the coffee machines are tried and tested for a few weeks before the review is written.

Coffee Machine Deals Under £100
If you are in the market for a coffee machine but you don’t want to break the bank I’ve got you covered.
I would always tread carefully when purchasing a coffee machine for under £100 as there are some (mind my french) crap ones out which and you may be back to square 1 in 6 months time. But if you can snag a deal on a coffee machine that was otherwise priced above 100 you’re laughing. You’ll also see here that there are no espresso machines included in this section, as although you may be able to find one on Amazon from my experience they’re pretty poor.

Now we’re talking. To be honest if I was to recommend a coffee machine to somebody that is just getting into coffee the £100 – £200 price mark would be where I’d send them – especially when there’s a coffee machine deal on.
It still falls on the budget end of the scale when we’re talking about espresso machines, but if you sacrifice some of the bells and whistles you can get a half decent machine otherwise you can definitely pick up a premium coffee pod machine or filter coffee maker.

It’s compact, it produces a great shot, and it’s really great value in my opinion for an espresso machine—you can’t really get cheaper than this.
With my Dedica, I can produce top-drawer espresso with a rich aroma. I can froth milk with the Adjustable Cappuccino System or steam milk with the professional barista technology to make frothy cappuccinos, macchiatos, or caffè lattes.

The Moccamaster KBG is a legend amongst batch brewing third-wave coffee shops throughout the world and is the OG batch brew machine.
The simplicity, durability, precision, and the fact that it comes in a variety of funky colours have made it my number one choice to brew and serve filter coffee for a few years now.
The design and functionality of my Moccamaster are pretty simple. There is no LCD screen or dials to twist, just an on/off switch on the side to start the flow of water.
The reason that this machine is popular amongst filter coffee drinkers like me is because the water temperature and the brew cycles have been designed for optimal water saturation that maximizes the coffee’s flavour.
Coffee Machine Deals Under £500
For those that have a slightly higher budget and particularly those in the hunt for an espresso machine then coffee machines under 500 I’d say is your price range.
Here you will find some coffee machines that ‘do’ have all the bells and whistles alongside ones that leave the magic in the ‘engine room’ and produce world class coffee.
Sage Duo Temp Pro
The Duo Temp Pro is the simple yet effective espresso machine from Sage that delivers great espresso without all the flashing lights.
The robust build is typical of Sage products.
The water tank at the back of my machine is removable, so I simply fill it with water when it runs low.
To make espresso I firmly tamp the coffee with the espresso tamper and lock it into the group head. I twist the dial anticlockwise to begin extraction.
Unlike other Sage espresso machines, my Duo Temp Pro doesn’t have the preset single or double shot buttons (these are basically preprogrammed timers with some allowing you to set the pressure), which means I’m in control of the shot.
De’Longhi – Eletta
As far as bean-to-cup machines go, the Delonghi Eletta has all sorts of functions, makes pretty good coffee, and gets an extra point for looking sharp.
Various functions include steaming the milk for different coffee types (flat white, latte, and macchiato), output of the coffee (small, long, double), and programming my own ‘My Coffee’ function, which lets me dictate how much espresso I’d like.
When I’m ready to make my desired coffee, I simply aim the milk pourer into my favorite coffee cup and sit back to watch the magic happen.
Cleaning is easy with a push of a button; water is flushed through the tubes, then I detach the milk container and place it in the fridge.
The grinder, as with any grinder, is pretty loud and also doesn’t let me know when it’s running low as it is contained inside the machine. I just make sure to keep an eye on this as it will start making a coffee without enough coffee beans.
If you have a G to play with then without a doubt you’re going to end up with a fantastic coffee machine. It’s up to you to decide now exactly what you want out of the machine and essentially how you enjoy your coffee.
Sage – Barista Touch
The Sage Barista Touch is the touch screen upgraded version of my Sage Barista Pro.
This machine allows you to swipe through the LCD menu and select a coffee of my choice (espresso, flat white, latte, cappuccino, americano).
There is a thermostat built into the drip tray just underneath where I sit the milk jug that detects the heat of the jug and prompts the automatic steam wand to stop heating the milk.
The workflow of creating a shot of coffee is very similar to the barista pro.
Rest the portafilter on the group head and activate the grind by pushing the button behind the rest.
Although the milk texturing on this machine is automatic, you will still need to tamp your coffee before you make a shot.
The Sage Barista touch offers an option for those that are concerned about having to master the art of texturing milk.
